Senior Technical Purchasing Advisor

Rosemead, CA (Hybrid--2 days)

Duration: initial 18-month contract

Pay: $78-83/hr




The Senior Technical Purchasing Advisor leads strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract management activities for technical equipment, engineered products, systems, software, and services. This role is responsible for negotiating commercial agreements, driving cost-saving initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring procurement strategies align with organizational objectives while delivering maximum value and minimizing risk.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead sourcing and procurement activities for technical products, equipment, software, and engineering services.
  • Negotiate supplier agreements, pricing structures, volume discounts, and long-term contracts to achieve optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies that reduce total cost of ownership and support organizational goals.
  • Conduct market analysis to evaluate technology trends, supplier capabilities, cost drivers, and industry developments.
  • Review and negotiate commercial contracts, purchase orders, and supplier claims to ensure compliance with company policies and contractual requirements.
  • Resolve supplier performance issues, delivery challenges, and contract disputes while maintaining strong vendor relationships.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify purchasing opportunities, define requirements, and support business objectives.
  • Establish and manage category sourcing strategies, ensuring procurement activities meet cost, quality, service, and performance targets.
  • Utilize financial, commercial, logistical, risk, and cost analysis tools to support sourcing decisions and supplier selection.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement processes, efficiencies, and cost savings.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate procurement policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned spend categories and provide guidance on sourcing best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders, suppliers, and external partners across the organization.
  • Protect company assets, confidential information, customer data, and cybersecurity resources through strict compliance with security and data management standards.

Leadership & Project Management

  • Lead or support strategic procurement projects with accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and business outcomes.
  • Define project objectives, timelines, budgets, milestones, risks, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure successful project execution.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations on procurement strategies with moderate to significant business impact.
  • Exercise independent judgment in resolving complex sourcing and contracting issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, strategic sourcing, or contract management.
  • Demonstrated success negotiating complex commercial agreements and supplier contracts.
  • Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing category management strategies and delivering measurable cost savings.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier management, and risk mitigation methodologies.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
