SOE Engineer – Windows 11 Deployment & Modern Workplace

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SOE Engineer to support a key Defence customer in Sydney. This role will be instrumental in the planning, development, testing, and deployment of a Windows 11 Standard Operating Environment across a complex enterprise ICT environment.

You will work closely with infrastructure, security, and support teams to deliver a seamless transition from Windows 10 to Windows 11 while ensuring compliance with organisational security, operational, and performance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and support the Windows 11 Standard Operating Environment (SOE).
• Build and manage deployment solutions using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
• Package, test, and deploy applications using technologies such as MSI, App-V, and MSIX.
• Validate application compatibility and performance within the Windows 11 environment.
• Support client virtualisation technologies and modern endpoint management solutions.
• Collaborate with security and infrastructure teams to ensure SOE compliance with enterprise policies and standards.
• Conduct pilot deployments, analyse results, and implement improvements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve SOE-related issues throughout testing and deployment phases.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and support guides.
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to service desk and support teams.
• Participate in change management, risk assessment, and release management activities.

Skills & Experience Essential

• Minimum 2 years' experience in SOE engineering, desktop engineering, or enterprise endpoint deployment.
• Strong knowledge of Windows 10 and Windows 11 architecture and deployment methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with:
  • MECM/SCCM
  • Microsoft Intune
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Group Policy (GPO)
• Experience with application packaging and compatibility testing.
• Knowledge of Active Directory and enterprise security best practices.
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

• Experience supporting Defence, Government, or highly regulated environments.
• Exposure to client virtualisation technologies.
• Understanding of modern workplace and endpoint management solutions.
• Experience with enterprise-scale migration and transformation projects.
