Senior Security Operations Specialist

We're working with a well-established New Zealand organisation that is growing its cyber security capability and has recently created a new position within its Security Operations team.

This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded manager and a collaborative security team where you'll have genuine influence, technical ownership, and the ability to shape how security operations are delivered across the business.
The Opportunity Reporting into the Security Operations Manager, you'll be a key member of a growing team focused on protecting critical business systems and responding to an evolving threat landscape.

A major focus of the role is incident response, with increasing attention being given to supply chain threats, security investigations, and proactive security monitoring. You'll work closely with internal technology teams and specialist security partners to continuously improve the organisation's security posture.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in real operational security challenges while also contributing to longer-term security uplift initiatives.

What You'll Be Doing

• Leading investigations and response activities for security incidents
• Performing threat detection, triage, and security monitoring activities
• Supporting and enhancing Security Operations processes and capabilities
• Driving vulnerability management and remediation activities
• Working alongside development and technology teams to review security controls and practices
• Providing security input into projects, platforms, and technology initiatives
• Collaborating with external security vendors and specialist partners
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the security function

About You
You'll likely bring experience from a Security Operations, Security Analyst, Senior Security Analyst, Incident Response, or Security Engineering background and enjoy working in highly technical environments.
We're particularly interested in people who have experience across:

• Security Operations (SecOps)
• Incident Response
• Vulnerability Management
• Security Monitoring and Investigations
• Enterprise Security Tooling
• DevSecOps environments

Experience with technologies such as Google SecOps, Microsoft Defender, Defender for Identity, CrowdStrike, Snyk, or JFrog would be advantageous, although experience with equivalent enterprise security platforms is equally valuable.

Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable building strong relationships with stakeholders across the business and communicating security concepts in a practical and collaborative way.
