Consultant Psychiatrist

About the Role

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join a well-established private inpatient mental health hospital in Perth. The role focuses on the management of adult private inpatients, with continuity of care through outpatient follow-up as clinically appropriate. You will work alongside experienced nursing, allied health and medical teams to deliver evidence-based, patient-centred care. Full-time is preferred; however, part-time applicants are strongly encouraged to apply, with flexible working hours available to suit your lifestyle.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment for private inpatients.
• Manage patient admissions, treatment planning, medication management and discharge planning.
• Conduct regular inpatient reviews and outpatient follow-up appointments following discharge.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care.
• Provide clinical leadership and treatment direction to nursing and allied health staff.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards.
• Participate in an after-hours on-call roster for patients under your care, with nursing staff providing initial triage.
• Respond to clinical emergencies when required.
• Ensure appropriate clinical handover and continuity of care during periods of leave.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement and uphold the highest standards of patient safety and clinical governance.

About You

You are a compassionate and experienced psychiatrist who is passionate about delivering outstanding mental health care in an inpatient setting.

You will have:

• Specialist Registration (Psychiatry) with AHPRA.
• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP), or eligibility for specialist registration.
• Strong clinical skills in the assessment and management of adult mental health conditions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams.
• A commitment to evidence-based practice, patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
• Strong organisational and documentation skills.
