Apply directProfessional Search Group (PSG) We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead a high-performing development squad of approximately five developers, looking to expand, responsible for delivering new product enhancements and features.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys balancing software engineering with team leadership. You'll work closely with the Solution Architect to translate solution designs into well-defined delivery plans, guide the team through implementation, and ensure high-quality outcomes.
This is not a people-management-only position. You will remain actively involved in software development, contributing code, reviewing designs and pull requests, solving technical challenges, and leading by example.
Note, this is a Perth base role and a requirement to be in the office at least 50% of your work week.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of developers, including offshore resources.
- Partner with the Solution Architect to break solution designs into Epics and User Stories.
- Plan and oversee sprint delivery, ensuring work is progressing as expected.
- Contribute hands-on through coding, code reviews, and technical problem solving.
- Ensure solutions meet architecture, quality, security, and engineering standards.
- Manage team workload, remove blockers, and support developer growth.
- Communicate delivery progress, risks, and dependencies with stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
Required
- Strong hands-on experience with C#/.NET, microservices, SQL Server, and REST APIs.
- Experience building modern React applications.
- Solid understanding of scalable, reliable software design.
- Proven experience leading development teams while remaining hands-on.
- Experience planning work, managing sprint delivery, and mentoring developers.
Desirable
- Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with distributed or offshore teams.
- Mining, industrial, or safety-critical software experience.
