JOB SUMMARY:The Production Operator is either responsible for the set up and operation of equipment which blends, mixes, packages and/or transports liquid or dry chemicals that comprise ***'s customer products or the operation of ***'s packaging lines. The Production Operator ensures the highest quality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customer
specifications and delivery requirements in accordance with Corporation policies and procedures.
Essential Functions as a Mixing Operator
• Sets up, starts, and runs all machinery while checking all controls for adherence to operation, safety procedures, and ISO standards.
• Weighs materials to meet product recipe specifications; inserts raw and pre-blended materials into machinery; ensures the correct materials are delivered to the work area.
• Monitors production processes and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation; troubleshoots equipment and processing issues.
• Operates machinery to mix, extrude, discharge, or process materials according to operating procedures.
• Examine materials visually and/or physically to ensure conformance with established standards.
• Take samples of materials to lab for evaluation and instructions on batch adjustments, as needed.
• Refers issues to Production Lead or Production Supervisor for disposition.
• Performs all required machine cleaning.
• Completes and maintains all required system inputs and transactions. Responsible for data integrity.
• Documents work completed as required, including production logs, data reports, procedures, etc.
• Participate in training, retraining and continual improvement processes and methods.
• Follows and complies with all safety rules, work rules, and regulations.
• Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions as a Packaging Operator
• Operates small press machine, checking all controls for adherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards.
• Operates the Automated Packaging Line (APL)
• Ensure containers are accurately labeled, counted, palletized, and transferred to designated holding area with pallet jack.
• Follows product recipe to accurately weigh materials using walkie lift
• Mix material in small vessels
• Examines materials visually and/or physically to ensure conformity with established standards.
• Refers issues to Production Lead or Production Supervisor for disposition.
• Performs all required machine cleaning.
• Completes and maintains all required system inputs and transactions; responsible for data integrity.
• Documents work completed as required, including logs, data reports, and procedures into computer system (SAP).
• Participates in training, retraining, and continual improvement processes and methods.
• Follows and complies with all safety rules, work rules, and regulations.
• Maintains departmental housekeeping standards.
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
• High School Diploma or GED
•
2 years of manufacturing experience
•
1 year of machine operation experience
Physical Demands The typical work week is Monday through Thursday with occasional overtime. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl; use hands to finger, handle and/or feel objects, tools, and/or controls; talk and/or hear. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses, safety shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate except for high noise areas. Proper personal safety equipment must be used while performing the duties of this job. All needed safety equipment is determined by plant safety guidelines.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to hot or cold temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, risk of electric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents, and outside weather conditions. Employees are regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes and/or airborne particles.
