Apply direct- Shape the next generation of energy infrastructure across the NT
- Take major energy opportunities from concept to investment decision
- Lead a diverse pipeline of generation projects, including solar, battery and thermal
Territory Generation (TGen) is the Northern Territory’s trusted energy services business and largest wholesale electricity generator, playing a critical role in powering communities, businesses and industry across the Territory. We own and operate eight power stations, with a diverse generation portfolio spanning gas, diesel, solar, biofuel and battery energy storage.
As the Northern Territory’s energy landscape evolves, TGen is investing in new technologies and energy solutions while maintaining the reliability, affordability and system security essential to the Territory’s future.
Reporting to the General Manager Commercial and Business Development, the Manager Energy Business Solutions will sit at the forefront of TGen’s next wave of energy investment, leading major projects and new energy opportunities from early concept and commercial development through to Final Investment Decision.
This is an opportunity to influence a diverse pipeline of projects across some of Australia’s most unique power systems. TGen is progressing an $82.1 million investment in large-scale battery storage at Owen Springs and Katherine, alongside further renewable energy, storage and generation opportunities across the Territory.
The role extends well beyond the delivery of individual assets. You will help determine which opportunities TGen pursues, how they are commercially structured and the technologies, partnerships and investment models required to bring them to life. Projects may involve greenfield development, land access and approvals, engagement with communities and Traditional Owners, private investment, alternative ownership models and strategic industry partnerships.
Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and Board, you will help shape TGen’s longer-term investment and energy strategies while bringing together the technical, commercial, financial and contractual elements required to turn complex energy opportunities into investable projects. You will lead a commercially focused team and work closely with engineering, operations, procurement, legal, government and industry.
To be considered for this role, you will bring senior experience in energy project development and a track record of progressing complex energy or infrastructure projects from early-stage development through to investment decision. Your experience will include commercial structuring, contract negotiation and stakeholder engagement, together with a strong understanding of contemporary energy technologies.
You will be a commercially minded and strategically focused leader with strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate complex projects and diverse stakeholder environments. An electrical engineering background would be valuable, although TGen welcomes candidates from broader technical or commercial backgrounds who can engage credibly with technical specialists and maintain a strong focus on commercial outcomes. Private sector experience, particularly developing projects competitively or through alternative investment and delivery models, will also be highly regarded.
This is an opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the Northern Territory’s future energy landscape, sitting at the intersection of energy transition, major investment, customer demand and commercial innovation.
