Enterprise Architect
Contract | Full-time | Greater Sydney | Until June 2027
We're partnering with a large NSW Government agency at a pivotal moment in its technology journey. With a complex legacy environment at its core and a mandate to modernise at scale, this agency is building the architectural foundation that will define how it operates for the next decade.
This is a senior governance role. You will set the standards, own the blueprints, and ensure every program across the portfolio aligns to a coherent enterprise architecture. You will work directly with the Chief Enterprise Architect and represent them at major steering committees and governance forums.
What You'll Be Doing
- Driving enterprise architecture across programs of work and related strategies
- Developing and maintaining EA artefacts across business, data, application, integration, infrastructure, and security domains
- Creating and owning architectural direction, standards, roadmaps, and patterns
- Translating target state architectures into practical guidance for delivery teams
- Representing the Chief Enterprise Architect at steering committees and stage gate reviews
- Managing architecture risks across the portfolio
- Mentoring and uplifting capability across program-assigned architects
- Engaging with vendors and partners as the senior technical authority
Essential
- 15+ years in IT, with 10+ years as an enterprise architect
- Experience leading or governing programs valued at $10M+
- TOGAF knowledge (certification highly regarded)
- Familiarity with Zachman, ITIL, or COBIT governance frameworks
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Integration architecture depth across APIs, iPaaS, and ESB
- Strong executive stakeholder and board-level communication skills
- Australian citizen eligible for baseline security clearance
Highly Desirable
- NSW or Federal Government experience
- Experience setting and governing organisation-wide architecture standards
- Legacy modernisation and mainframe transformation background
- Existing baseline or higher security clearance
- Familiarity with SPARX Enterprise Architect, ARIS, or similar tooling
