Maintenance Fitter

The Role

We are currently recruiting multiple Permanent Full-Time Mechanical Fitters to join the maintenance team of a leading food manufacturer based in Toowoomba.

With several shifts available, this is a fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent role with excellent pay, shift allowances and long-term career development.

You will be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the site.

Available Shifts

• Day Shift: 6:00am - 2:00pm
• Afternoon Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm
• Night Shift: 10:00pm - 6:00am

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative, predictive and breakdown maintenance on manufacturing and processing equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical faults to minimise downtime and maximise production efficiency.
• Repair, service, and overhaul pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, motors, valves, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Complete scheduled maintenance activities in line with maintenance plans and site requirements.
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and commissioning of new machinery.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to achieve operational targets.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders through the site's maintenance management system.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with workplace health and safety policies and food manufacturing standards.

The Candidate

• Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter (Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or equivalent) or currently seeking an apprenticeship opportunity to commence a career in Mechanical Fitting.
• Previous experience within food manufacturing, FMCG, processing, packaging, or industrial manufacturing environments.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting capability.
• Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, and rotating equipment.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
