$75–$95 per hour + Travel & Accommodation provided

The Opportunity
Join a supportive healthcare team in a remote island setting, working as a sole Medical Scientist with strong clinical exposure and autonomy.
  • Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • On-call required after hours and weekends
  • Minimal weekend lab operation (call-outs only)
The Laboratory
You’ll work across a broad scope of practice, including:
  • Haematology (Beckman Coulter DxH500 – FBE & differentials)
  • Coagulation (INR, APTT)
  • Point-of-care Biochemistry (iStat, Afinion, Piccolo)
  • Blood Banking (BioRad manual card technique)
  • Microbiology (urine, swabs, faecal cultures)
  • PCR testing (GeneXpert – COVID, Flu, RSV, etc.)
Support Structure
  • Onsite phlebotomist (8am–12pm weekdays)
  • Nursing staff support inpatient and after-hours collections
  • Weekly sample transfers to Royal Brisbane Hospital
