Overview
Client is seeking a key member of the engineering and systems team responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) platform in support of safety-critical aerospace workflows and Digital Thread initiatives.
This role focuses on supporting Requirements Based Engineering (RBE), enabling end-to-end traceability across engineering and manufacturing lifecycles, and integrating systems engineering data with enterprise engineering tools and processes.
Core Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and maintain integrations between IBM ELM and enterprise systems such as PLM, CAD, ERP, and MES platforms to support a unified Digital Thread.
• Build linked data pipelines using OSLC, REST APIs, and integration middleware to enable cross-platform data exchange and lifecycle visibility.
• Define data federation and synchronization strategies to support a single source of truth across the product lifecycle.
• Establish automated configuration management links between systems engineering data and product structures, including As-Designed and As-Built BOMs.
• Align IBM ELM workflows with ARP4754 guidelines for civil aircraft development and support development assurance level (DAL A through E) tracking.
• Create and maintain automated traceability and verification matrices to support compliance audits and reviews.
• Administer and configure the IBM ELM Suite, including DOORS Next Generation, Engineering Workflow Management (EWM), Engineering Test Management (ETM), Rhapsody, Global Configuration Management (GCM), and Jazz Team Server (JTS).
• Configure project areas, permissions, access controls, and workflow templates while maintaining platform performance and availability.
• Partner with Quality Assurance teams to align ETM processes with Requirements Based Engineering workflows.
• Manage change requests, defect tracking, and sprint planning activities within EWM.
• Ensure engineering and systems data comply with applicable regulatory, industry, and security requirements, including ARP4754, DO-178C, and DO-254.
• Develop automation scripts, plugins, and integrations using REST APIs, OSLC, JavaScript, and Python.
• Design and maintain automated reports, compliance dashboards, and reporting solutions using IBM Engineering Lifecycle Optimization, BIRT, Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies
• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience with software and systems engineering tooling.
• Deep hands-on expertise administering and configuring the IBM ELM ecosystem, including DOORS Next Generation, EWM, ETM, Rhapsody, GCM, and JTS.
• Proven experience supporting Requirements Based Engineering within aerospace environments using IBM ELM tools.
• Experience integrating IBM ELM with enterprise digital engineering tools and PLM platforms such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE.
• Strong practical experience with ARP4754A/B frameworks and familiarity with DO-178C and DO-254 compliance requirements.
• Experience with Digital Thread architectures, OSLC integrations, REST APIs, scripting, and automation.
• Familiarity with Safety-Critical Lifecycle Management, Agile, SAFe, and Waterfall delivery methodologies.
• Strong communication, documentation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills or Experience
• IBM ELM certifications, including IBM Certified Specialist credentials.
• Experience creating enterprise dashboards and reporting solutions using Power BI, Tableau, or comparable analytics platforms.
