Senior Project Engineer – Brownfield & Capital Expansion
Department: Strategic Project Management Office
Location: Plant Chonburi, Thailand
Reporting Line: Reports directly to the Strategic Project Manager
Collaborative Interfaces: Global Business Services (GBS), R&D, Procurement, Engineering, Machine & Equipment Suppliers, Factory Operations, Construction Managers, and External EPC Contractors.
1. Role Purpose
The Senior Project Engineer is a permanent member of the Strategic Project Management team, responsible for leading and executing assigned capital projects across diverse workstreams—including brownfield facility expansions, factory CAPEX improvements, product commercialization, and sustainability programs. Combining engineering expertise with commercial discipline, this role provides technical and project leadership to deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to international quality standards.

2. Key Result Areas & Responsibilities
- End-to-End Project Delivery:
- Take full ownership of assigned projects from scoping through commissioning, validation, and operational handover.
- Develop project plans, work breakdown structures, resource requirements, and milestones for approval by executive leadership.
- Apply Commissioning, Validation, and Start-up (CVS) frameworks to validate machine installations and product commercialization opportunities.
- Budget, Risk & Commercial Governance:
- Manage assigned project CAPEX budgets; track committed spend, actual expenditure, and completion forecasts while proactively flagging variances.
- Identify project risks early and formulate practical mitigation strategies.
- Build business cases, financial ROI assessments, cost-benefit analyses, and formal investment proposals for capital expenditure sign-off.
- Technical Review & Permitting:
- Review, challenge, and approve vendor submissions, technical specifications, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and method statements.
- Support the Package Approval for Work process and coordinate required regulatory permits and operating licenses with local authorities.
- Stakeholder & Contractor Management:
- Act as the primary technical interface between commercial stakeholders, operations, machine suppliers, and EPC contractors.
- Supervise on-site contractor execution to ensure strict compliance with safety, health, environmental (HSE), and engineering guidelines.
- Support the development and mentoring of Junior Project Engineers.
3. Profile & Qualifications
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial). Post-graduate degree in Engineering Management or MBA is a plus.
- Professional Experience:
- 5 to 8 years of solid project engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial plants, or FMCG production environments.
- Proven track record of successfully executing industrial CAPEX projects, plant expansion, or brownfield installations.
- Experience with cross-functional alignment (Procurement, R&D, Operations, external machine suppliers).
- Technical & Tool Competencies:
- Advanced capability in reading technical drawings, P&IDs, and equipment datasheets.
- Proficiency in MS Project / Planner, advanced Excel, O365 tools, and SAP (or equivalent ERP) for CAPEX tracking and PO management.
