Join a growing Australian insurtech and play a key role in shaping the way the business scales.

MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a fast-growing Australian insurtech to recruit a Finance & Operations Analyst into their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity for a commercially minded finance or operations professional to step into a broad, high-impact role with genuine ownership, with the opportunity to help shape processes as the business continues to grow.

You’ll support a range of financial, operational and reconciliation tasks while taking ownership of key reporting, cash management and process improvement activities.

The Opportunity

This is a varied role that sits across finance, operations, analysis and process improvement.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the business has strong financial processes and reporting in place, supporting cash flow and forecasting, and identifying opportunities to make the way the business operates more efficient.

A key part of the role will involve overseeing the organisation’s premium collection and reconciliation processes, working with external stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensuring financial information is accurate.

However, the role extends well beyond this. You’ll have the opportunity to work with AI-driven technology, support automation initiatives, contribute to strategic projects and gain exposure across risk, compliance and broader business operations.

This is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, takes initiative and wants to move beyond a traditional transactional finance role.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Reporting

  • Support monthly financial reporting and management information
  • Assist with forecasting, budgeting and cash flow management
  • Monitor the organisation’s cash position and provide relevant insights
  • Assist with business performance reporting and financial analysis
  • Prepare accurate financial and settlement reports
  • Support senior leadership with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting

Cash Management & Reconciliation

  • Oversee key cash collection and reconciliation processes
  • Monitor payments and investigate discrepancies or outstanding balances
  • Identify trends and root causes behind financial discrepancies
  • Ensure records and reporting remain accurate and well documented
  • Work with external stakeholders to resolve queries and payment issues

Process Improvement & Automation

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and scalability
  • Work with internal technology/development teams to enhance existing AI-driven processes
  • Help reduce manual intervention through automation and workflow improvements
  • Review and improve existing processes as the business grows
  • Document procedures and establish best-practice processes

Operations & Strategic Projects

  • Support the COO with broader operational and strategic initiatives
  • Gain exposure to risk and compliance activities
  • Work collaboratively across different areas of the business
  • Provide analytical and operational support on projects and new initiatives
  • Take ownership of projects designed to improve the overall effectiveness of the business

About You

You’re a proactive, analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys taking ownership and figuring out how things can be done better.

You may come from a finance, operations, accounting, insurance or corporate environment. What matters most is that you're comfortable working with numbers and data, can communicate confidently with stakeholders and are excited by the opportunity to take on a broad role within a growing business.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • 2–5 years' experience across finance, finance operations, accounting, analysis, reconciliations, insurance operations or a similar environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence engaging with internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and genuine sense of ownership
  • The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities
  • An interest in technology, AI, automation and process improvement

Insurance experience is not essential. We’re open to candidates from a range of backgrounds who are dynamic, adaptable and eager to learn.

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a business at an exciting stage of its growth, where you’ll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact rather than simply operate within an established process.

You’ll benefit from:

  • $195K–$115K + super
  • A growing Australian insurtech environment
  • Broad exposure across finance, operations, technology, risk and strategy
  • Direct exposure to senior leadership
  • High levels of autonomy and ownership
  • The opportunity to work with AI and automation
  • The chance to build and improve processes as the business scales
  • Strong long-term career progression
  • A collaborative and entrepreneurial team environment
