EQUIP People are recruiting an experienced Maintenance Engineer for a busy Wellington manufacturing operation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys fault finding, preventative maintenance, improving plant performance and keeping production equipment operating safely and reliably.
You'll play an important part in reducing downtime, improving machinery reliability and supporting production teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Carrying out planned, preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Responding to equipment breakdowns and completing reactive maintenance
- Troubleshooting mechanical faults across production machinery and plant
- Supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives
- Completing root cause analysis and identifying practical long-term solutions
- Maintaining engineering documentation, maintenance records and plant logs
- Providing technical support to production and operations teams
- Assisting with machinery upgrades, installations and improvement projects
- Supporting audit, compliance and quality requirements
- Maintaining high standards across health, safety, environment and quality systems
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years' experience in a maintenance fitter, mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance role
- Relevant engineering qualification, trade qualification or equivalent practical experience
- Strong mechanical maintenance and fault-finding capability
- Welding experience and confidence completing practical repairs
- Experience working with preventative maintenance systems
- Ability to carry out root cause analysis and improve recurring issues
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements within manufacturing
- Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with production teams
- FMCG, food manufacturing or high-volume production experience is highly regarded
