Occupational Health Nurse- Ballina

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements relating to occupational health and clinical operations.

• Maintain, develop and oversee all records, equipment, programmes and resources relating to occupational health services.

• Conduct an annual review of Occupational Health policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current legislation, organisational changes and audit requirements.

• Conduct pre-employment medical assessments, interpret clinical results and prepare comprehensive reports.

• Undertake occupational health risk assessments across the organisation as required.

• Coordinate the VDU/DSE Ergonomics Programme, including assessments, recommendations and follow-up actions.

• Develop and implement clear, coordinated initiatives to promote employee wellbeing and support the reduction of absenteeism.

• Liaise with Occupational Health Physicians, GPs, Physiotherapists and Consultants to support the effective management of employee health cases.

• Develop and support appropriate return-to-work plans following serious injury, illness or prolonged absence.

• Manage and provide appropriate follow-up for needlestick and splash injuries.

• Provide relevant occupational health reports, updates and recommendations to managers while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.

• Coordinate vaccination clinics, including influenza, Hepatitis B and other relevant workplace vaccination programmes.

• Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with professional, regulatory and organisational requirements.

Your Profile

• A recognised qualification in Occupational Health is essential. Candidates currently undertaking an Occupational Health qualification will also be considered.

• Registered General Nurse with current NMBI registration.

• Competent in audiometry, spirometry, vision screening, phlebotomy, VDU/DSE ergonomics assessments and vaccine administration.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with strong empathy, active listening and the ability to build effective professional relationships.

• Strong organisational and planning skills, including excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing demands while maintaining a high professional standard.

• A collaborative team player with a proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of an organisation.

• Minimum of two years’ experience working in occupational health nursing.
