A leading global industrial equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Service Operations Manager to lead its Adelaide aftermarket and field service operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who combines strong operational management with technical knowledge and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will oversee the day-to-day performance of the service department, ensuring efficient service delivery, strong financial performance, and a high level of customer satisfaction. You will lead a team of service technicians and support staff while driving continuous improvement across safety, service quality, and operational efficiency.
The Role
As the Service Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the daily operations of the regional service department to achieve operational and financial targets
- Developing and executing the regional aftermarket service strategy to grow service revenue and customer retention
- Managing service scheduling, workflow, WIP, backlog, and overall service performance
- Providing technical guidance and operational support to field service technicians
- Reviewing quotations, repair proposals, and service documentation while ensuring timely customer communication
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, resolving issues, and ensuring a high level of service delivery
- Monitoring branch inventory, tooling, company assets, and spare parts to support efficient operations
- Coaching, mentoring, and developing service personnel while identifying ongoing training needs
- Ensuring accurate reporting, timesheet approvals, payroll support, and operational administration
- Promoting a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with quality, environmental, and WHS standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Trade qualification or engineering background in Mechanical, Electrical, or a related industrial discipline
- Proven experience managing field service or aftermarket operations within an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership experience supervising service technicians and coordinating service delivery
- Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and operational performance
- Excellent customer relationship, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
- Experience using ERP or service management systems such as SAP, along with strong Microsoft Office skills
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- A proactive leadership style with a strong focus on continuous improvement, safety, and customer satisfaction
