Specialist Trainer Assessor – Drill & Blast
Rate $80 - $90 hr + Super on all hours
Start Mid-August
Roster: FIFO ex Perth – Week on/week off arrangement (8:6:7:7)
Shifts: Days/Night shift requirement
Our client, a leading Tier 1 resources organisation, is seeking experienced Specialist Trainers to join the startup phase of a major new iron ore operation in the Pilbara.
This is more than a training role. You'll be a key contributor in building capability, establishing standards, and helping shape workforce performance from day one.

The Opportunity

- Delivering training and competency assessments for Drill & Blast personnel
- Conducting VOCs, field assessments and competency evaluations
- Coaching and mentoring crews to achieve safe and productive outcomes
- Identifying training needs and workforce capability gaps
- Maintaining training records and compliance documentation
- Developing and improving learning resources and assessment materials
- Supporting onboarding and upskilling initiatives
- Driving continuous improvement across training programs
- Reinforcing a strong safety culture throughout Drill & Blast operations
We're Looking For
A respected Drill & Blast professional with strong operational credibility and a passion for developing people. You will bring experience across one or more of the following:
- Blast Hole Drill Rigs (Conventional and/or Autonomous)
- D65, Pit Viper or MD Series Drill Rigs
- Explosives Loading Units (MMUs)
- Drill Navigation and Pattern Mark-Up Systems
- Blast Exclusion Management
- Drill & Blast planning and operational processes
- Field leadership within large-scale open pit mining operations
Essential Requirements
- Demonstrated experience as a Trainer Assessor within Drill & Blast operations
- Strong operational background in open pit mining Drill & Blast activities
- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment:
- TAE40116 or TAE40122; or
- TAESS00015 / TAESS00019 Skill Set
- Current C Class Driver's Licence
- Strong understanding of mining safety systems and statutory compliance requirements
- Excellent communication, coaching and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to build credibility with both frontline crews and leadership teams
- Competency using training management systems
