Sr. Accountant

THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING

WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT

• The accounting organization is operating with a lean structure, and this position will provide needed senior-level ownership across several critical areas of the close
• A major focus will be reviewing accounts payable, accruals, prepaid expenses, banking activity, debt, intercompany transactions, and related balance sheet accounts to ensure they are accurate and completed on time
• Rather than simply preparing transactions, this person will serve as an important review layer, identifying accounting issues, reconciliation concerns, and potential risks before they reach final close review
• Month-end responsibilities include reviewing accrual schedules, bank reconciliations, AP aging, prepaid schedules, fixed and intangible assets, debt activity, and supporting balance sheet reconciliations
• The role will help strengthen vendor management and AP processes by establishing more consistent procedures, workflows, controls, and standard operating documentation
• As the organization continues developing its finance infrastructure, there will be opportunities to improve how technology and automation are used across AP, reconciliations, close, and reporting
• NetSuite is still relatively new to the organization, creating an opportunity for someone with strong ERP experience to help the team operate more effectively within the system
• The business needs someone capable of operating with limited hand-holding, taking ownership of their responsibilities, and helping alleviate pressure on a finance team managing significant deliverables
• With continued growth, the position is being structured with the potential to review the work of Staff Accountants and develop into greater people leadership responsibility over time

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong hands-on general ledger and month-end close knowledge
• Strong understanding of GAAP and the ability to independently work through accounting issues, reconciliations, and close-related discrepancies
• Experience reviewing accounts payable, accruals, prepaid expenses, bank reconciliations, and other key balance sheet accounts
• Hands-on exposure to intercompany accounting, fixed assets, intangible assets, banking activity, and debt accounting
• Experience operating within a multi-entity or multinational accounting environment is highly valuable
• Advanced Excel skills and experience working within an ERP environment; NetSuite experience would be particularly valuable
• Ability to step into an environment with limited training, quickly understand existing processes, and take ownership without requiring extensive direction
• Experience identifying inefficient or manual accounting processes and helping establish stronger workflows, procedures, controls, or automation
• Previous experience developing SOPs or creating audit-ready accounting documentation is valuable
• Experience within Big 4, professional services, or another complex accounting environment can translate well, but is not required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the confidence to identify an issue, investigate the underlying cause, and bring potential solutions forward
• A collaborative, accountable approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving accounting environment
