eCommerce Technology Manager | Senior Digital Manager

We’re partnering with a global retailer to find a senior eCommerce technology leader to take ownership of digital development and help shape the next phase of its online platform.

This is not a traditional digital marketing or trading role. The focus is firmly on technology, development leadership and delivery.

You’ll lead a distributed development team, work closely with senior Technology and Digital stakeholders, and act as the technical bridge between business requirements and engineering delivery.
The role

• Lead and develop a distributed team of developers, establishing strong development processes, standards and ways of working
• Own technical delivery across the eCommerce platform, including releases, integrations, APIs, data and platform improvements
• Translate business and product requirements into practical technical solutions and confidently challenge engineering decisions where required
• Work closely with Product, UX, eCommerce, Marketing and Technology teams
• Oversee relationships between the digital platform and broader systems including ERP, WMS, logistics, fulfilment and third-party applications
• Support platform architecture decisions and significant transformation initiatives, with potential major rebuild work ahead
• Improve delivery discipline across QA, incident management, technical debt and release processes

About you
We’re looking for someone who has come from a technical or development background and progressed into leadership.
You’ll ideally bring:

• Experience leading software or digital development teams
• Strong eCommerce platform experience across Shopify Plus, Magento / Adobe Commerce or another enterprise commerce platform
• Good understanding of APIs, integrations, data flows and distributed digital environments
• Enough technical depth to confidently challenge developers and assess proposed solutions
• Experience operating in retail, eCommerce or another fast-paced consumer environment
• Strong stakeholder management and the ability to partner with senior Technology and Digital leaders

You do not need to be a hands-on developer today, and Shopify experience is not essential. Strong eCommerce technology leadership is far more important.
