Senior Project Manager

We’re partnering exclusively with a well-known Australian organisation to appoint a Senior Project Manager to lead a complex piece of work across its Finance and Payments environment.

This role will sit across a number of interconnected initiatives spanning digital payments, payment gateways, ERP/accounting systems and cheque decommissioning. With multiple projects running concurrently, they need an experienced Senior PM who is comfortable operating across ambiguity, bringing structure to complex environments and ensuring interdependent streams remain aligned.

This isn’t a role for someone who needs a heavily defined roadmap from day one. You’ll be expected to get across the environment quickly, work autonomously and drive delivery while managing a broad and demanding stakeholder group.

You’ll be responsible for:

• Leading end-to-end delivery across multiple Finance and Payments initiatives.
• Managing dependencies across digital payments, payment gateways, ERP/accounting platforms and associated systems.
• Supporting the ongoing decommissioning of cheque-based payment processes.
• Leading projects through discovery, planning and delivery.
• Identifying and managing dependencies across concurrent project streams.
• Bringing structure and clarity to areas where scope and requirements may still be evolving.
• Developing and maintaining project plans, governance, RAID and reporting.
• Working closely with business, finance, technology and senior leadership stakeholders.
• Ensuring streams remain aligned on milestones, dependencies, risks and delivery outcomes.
• Driving decisions and maintaining momentum across a complex stakeholder environment.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

• Strong experience delivering complex, enterprise-scale projects end-to-end.
• Previous experience across Finance, Payments, ERP or financial systems transformation.
• Exposure to digital payments and/or payment gateway environments will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple concurrent projects and cross-program dependencies.
• Strong discovery experience and the ability to turn ambiguity into a clear delivery plan.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, particularly across demanding senior stakeholder groups.
• A proactive, delivery-focused approach - someone who can genuinely drive a piece of work rather than simply coordinate it.
• Experience working across Waterfall, Agile and/or hybrid delivery environments.
• Strong understanding of structured project management methodologies such as PMBOK and PRINCE2.
• Previous consulting experience would be advantageous, particularly where it has developed strong stakeholder and delivery capability.

The details:

• Initial contract: 6 months, with potential to extend.
• Start: September.
• Location: Melbourne CBD / hybrid.
