We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation specialising in insurance to appoint a Senior Operations Accountant to join their Finance team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a broad and commercially focused role spanning finance operations, treasury, investments, taxation and financial control.

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation specialising in insurance to appoint a Senior Operations Accountant to join their Finance team.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is a broad and commercially focused role spanning finance operations, treasury, investments, taxation and financial control.
About the Role
You will take ownership of key Finance operations while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across the business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing treasury operations, bank reconciliations and cash forecasting.
- Managing investment activities, compliance and portfolio monitoring.
- Managing reinsurance collateral balances and reconciliations.
- Overseeing premium debtors, aged debt and provisions for doubtful debts.
- Managing broker credit checks and financial reconciliations.
- Reviewing month-end journals and supporting financial reporting.
- Overseeing taxation and regulatory returns, including GST, FBT, PAYG and stamp duty.
- Managing relationships with external tax advisors, banking and investment partners, and other key service providers.
- Providing guidance to Finance team members and supporting the CFO with special projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
A banking or financial services background is essential for this role. Experience within insurance, banking or another regulated financial services environment will be highly regarded.
You will ideally have:
- CA/CPA qualification and a relevant degree.
- 5+ years' experience in progressively senior Finance roles.
- Strong commercial accounting experience.
- Exposure to insurance accounting, reinsurance, investments, claims, reserving, capital and risk management is highly desirable.
- Experience working with auditors, regulators, taxation bodies, banking and investment providers.
- Strong Excel, analytical and numerical skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- A proactive, commercially minded approach with strong attention to detail.
- Big Four experience will be viewed favourably.
