About the Position
An opportunity is available for an experienced Science educator to join the school as Head of Department - Science from Term 1, 2027. This ongoing leadership position will oversee the delivery and development of the Science curriculum, support and mentor teaching staff, and contribute to continuous improvement across the department. The successful candidate must be confident and experienced in teaching Physics, alongside providing strong curriculum and departmental leadership.
Skills and Responsibilities
- Curriculum: Lead the planning, implementation and review of the Science curriculum, with responsibility for teaching Physics.
- Safeguarding: Promote a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment in line with school and safeguarding expectations.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with students, staff, families and school leadership.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Science teachers and the broader leadership team to strengthen teaching practice, curriculum delivery and student outcomes.
- Leadership: Lead, mentor and support the Science department while contributing to whole-school priorities and improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
- Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are required.
- Physics: Demonstrated experience and capability teaching Physics is essential.
- Safeguarding: Applicants must provide current professional referees and complete HARKE Recruitment's onboarding and safeguarding requirements.
