A large privately owned Queensland business is seeking a Group Finance Manager to join its leadership team in a newly created position.
Operating across multiple business divisions and sites, the organisation has experienced significant growth through acquisition and continues to expand its footprint. With a sizeable finance team and recent investment in systems and process improvement, the business is now looking for an experienced finance leader to help drive consistency, accountability and operational excellence across the function.
Reporting to a senior member of the finance leadership team, this role will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day operations of a large finance function while helping drive process improvement, team performance and reporting outcomes.
The Role
This is a role for someone who enjoys making finance teams run effectively.
Rather than being focused on technical accounting or board reporting, you'll be responsible for ensuring month-end is delivered on time, processes are followed, issues are resolved quickly and the finance team is operating efficiently.
You'll work closely with accountants, bookkeepers and accounts payable staff, providing guidance, support and accountability while helping drive process improvements across the business.

Key responsibilities include:
- Driving month-end delivery and reporting timetables across the finance function
- Improving workflows, reconciliations, journals and review processes
- Supporting and mentoring finance team members across accounting, bookkeeping and AP
- Following up bottlenecks and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely manner
- Partnering with operational stakeholders to improve finance outcomes and business performance
- Supporting ongoing process improvements and system enhancements
- Contributing to finance initiatives, systems projects and broader business improvements
About you
You are a practical finance leader who enjoys working closely with both people and processes. You may currently be working as a Group Finance Manager, Finance Manager, Senior Finance Manager, Financial Controller within a smaller business, or an Accounting Manager with strong team leadership experience.
You will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification (preferred)
- Strong month-end and operational finance experience
- Experience leading or mentoring finance teams
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- A hands-on approach and willingness to get into the detail when required
- Process improvement experience and a continuous improvement mindset
- Multi-site or broader private business experience highly regarded
