We are developing a revolutionary, low cost single-molecule DNA sequencer that can potentially improve the lives of people in a wide variety of ways including timely screening for diseases and diagnosis of various cancers by fusing biological and integrated circuit technology. We are seeking a mechanical engineer to support development of consumable fluidic devices at Client Santa Clara, with educational and/or professional background in mechanical and/or process engineering. This candidate will be responsible for supporting consumable device components and surface chemistry teams in a variety of activities as needed.
Responsibilities
Flowcell manufacturing, process development and assembly.
Facilitate senior engineers in SolidWorks design.
Dimensional and mechanical measurements, including data analysis and reporting.
Surface metrology and characterization.
Component testing, quality checks, and visual inspection.
Sample preparation for external analysis.
Component and subcomponent inventory management; shipping preparation and receiving.
In summary, this role will have a focus on supporting multiple engineering activities in a timely manner, to support the needs of the project as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
Associates or Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related discipline from an accredited institution, 0-2 years of professional experience required, but hands-on lab experience is preferred.
Microfabrication, microfluidics and materials knowledge or experience is also a plus.
Excellence in familiarity with SolidWorks, Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets or equivalent required.
Familiarity with metrology or microscopy equipment is also a big plus.
