Detailed Job Description:

Technical Training Specialist | Remote | 18-Month Contract | $39.39/hr

We're looking for an experienced Technical Training Specialist to lead the design, development, and delivery of technical training programmes within a large-scale utility environment. This is a fully remote role with a strong instructional design focus — you'll be working across functions to build training solutions that drive real outcomes for end users and operating units.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical training across a wide range of solution areas and technologies
  • Design and develop high-quality training materials, acting as Technical Instructional Design Lead
  • Plan and facilitate the development of training solutions aligned to department and operating unit outcomes, drawing on knowledge of training methodologies
  • Monitor and document user outcomes, needs assessments, and learning objectives
  • Work with cross-functional stakeholders to review existing software and systems training materials, identify gaps, and build an organised approach to new training resources
  • Contribute to the design of the technical training curriculum, balancing the needs of different functions and learner groups
  • Incorporate feedback loops into design and facilitation to continuously improve training programmes
  • Run analyses on programme effectiveness and report findings to department and operating unit leaders
  • Coordinate course scheduling, manage relationships with internal subject matter experts and external vendors, and provide day-of support
  • Develop blended learning solutions using tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator), Articulate Storyline, and Microsoft Suite
  • Ensure training materials meet corporate and security compliance standards

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, or Graphic Design — or 5+ years of experience in technical training
  • Instructional Design Certification
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative Cloud and Articulate Storyline
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
  • Portfolio submission required
  • Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and senior leaders across functions
  • Strong communicator — able to translate technical content clearly for varied audiences

Preferred

  • Project management experience
  • Background working within a utility company
