Head of New Business (Pre-Construction)

Our client is a well-established and growing player in the construction industry, known for delivering high-quality modular and off-site building solutions across government, commercial and infrastructure sectors. As the business enters its next phase of growth, they are seeking an experienced, commercially astute Head of New Business to take charge of growing its client base and forward workload.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role carries genuine influence over the company's strategic direction, including target markets, sector diversification and the business' positioning within the modular and off-site construction industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders who influence future work, including councils, government agencies, developers, asset owners, architects, engineers, consultants and major head contractors
• Engage with prospective projects at an early stage, positioning the business favourably ahead of formal tender processes
• Develop long-term commercial arrangements, including panels, frameworks and preferred-supplier relationships that generate repeat and negotiated work
• Maintain a consistent industry presence through events, conferences and regular client engagement
• Collaborate closely with the Estimating and delivery teams to ensure pursued opportunities are commercially sound and deliverable
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting on pipeline status, conversion activity and forecast opportunities
• Contribute to broader growth strategy, including target-setting, market expansion and sector diversification

About You

• Demonstrated success generating new business within construction, modular/off-site manufacturing or infrastructure sectors
• Established relationships across government, Tier 1/Tier 2 contractors, developers or consultants
• A proactive approach to identifying and securing opportunities ahead of the open tender stage
• Sound commercial judgement, with an understanding of margin, capacity and risk considerations
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills at senior and executive level
• A self-motivated, results-driven approach to business development
