Senior Civil Design Engineer

The Opportunity

Our client is a well-established and growing engineering consultancy delivering a diverse range of land development, building, and infrastructure projects across Australia. Due to continued growth, an opportunity exists for an experienced Senior Civil Designer / Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their collaborative civil team.

Perth is the preferred location for this position, however applications will also be considered from candidates based in Canberra, Brisbane, or the Gold Coast who can work from one of the client's offices.

This role is ideal for a technically strong civil design professional with extensive experience in 12d and AutoCAD, who enjoys delivering practical, buildable, and cost-effective engineering solutions across a broad range of projects.

The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality civil designs and documentation for a variety of development and infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed civil design and documentation for:
  • Earthworks and grading
  • Roadworks, accessways, and car parks
  • Stormwater drainage systems, including 12d drainage design and analysis
  • Sewer and water reticulation
  • Subdivision developments
  • Commercial and residential projects
  • Civil infrastructure works
  • Retaining walls
  • Utility and service alignments
• Undertake civil design modelling in 12d, including road, drainage, sewer, water, and earthworks design.
• Produce detailed AutoCAD documentation for approvals, tender, construction, and as-constructed purposes.
• Interpret survey information, engineering sketches, authority requirements, and consultant inputs to develop coordinated design solutions.
• Liaise with engineers, project managers, architects, service authorities, and other stakeholders.
• Review and implement design changes, RFIs, and project updates.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination activities, and clash resolution.
• Provide guidance and support to junior designers and drafters.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal CAD and 12d standards and procedures.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

• A minimum of 6 years' civil design and drafting experience.
• At least 6 years' experience using 12d for civil design.
• At least 6 years' experience using AutoCAD for civil drafting and documentation.
• Strong experience in 12d drainage design and analysis.
• Proven expertise in:
  • Road design
  • Stormwater drainage
  • Sewer and water services
  • Earthworks design
• Experience delivering projects across:
  • Subdivisions
  • Commercial developments
  • Residential developments
  • Civil infrastructure projects
• Civil 3D experience (highly regarded).
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines, and local authority requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering Design, Drafting, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; or
• Equivalent industry experience.
