About the Position
We are hiring an Inventory Specialist in Irwin, PA to support inventory control, order picking, materials management, and tool room operations in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you will help maintain accurate inventory, keep production materials and tooling available, and support on-time customer shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Control & Order Fulfillment
- Generate picklists, print sales orders, and pick customer orders to meet scheduled ship dates.
- Stock shelves, verify quantities, and complete cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Process bin transfers in the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system.
- Monitor inventory discrepancies and work daily with cost accounting to resolve issues.
- Support the annual financial inventory audit.
- Process return material authorization (RMA) picklists and return items to the appropriate inventory bins.
- Incorporate rush orders and items requiring rework into the material flow according to work instructions.
- Operate forklifts and WAVE material-handling equipment as needed.
Production & Materials Coordination
- Release and issue production jobs, update quantities and dates, and track work orders throughout the shop.
- Issue castings and finished parts, and maintain casting inventory.
- Track upcoming work orders up to three months in advance.
- Verify surface-finish requirements for polishing work orders.
- Close production operations, record scrap, and reissue work orders as needed.
- Provide backup support for production releases and scrap reporting.
Tool Room Management
- Manage tool room inventory, including purchased products and consignment stock.
- Order tooling for upcoming jobs through the material requirements planning (MRP) system.
- Update tooling prices and supplier quotes in MRP.
- Coordinate the repair or replacement of damaged tools and manage tool grinding and resharpening.
- Obtain new products for machine shop testing.
- Provide backup support for saw and paint work centers as assigned.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Train Material Coordinators and other employees on assigned tasks.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's inventory items.
- Follow 5S workplace organization practices to maintain an orderly work area.
- Identify opportunities to improve material handling efficiency and reduce costs.
- Complete additional duties within your skill set as assigned by a supervisor or management.
