You'll play a key role in preparing competitive tenders while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and developing strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

The Role

As Mechanical Estimator, you will:

  • Prepare detailed mechanical estimates from drawings and specifications.
  • Produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing documentation.
  • Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Compare tender returns and provide clear recommendations.
  • Assist in maintaining cost databases and estimating records.
  • Present estimates to senior management when required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
  • Work closely with CSA and Electrical Estimators to deliver coordinated tender submissions.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.
  • Identify project risks and ensure high-quality tender documentation throughout the bid process.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

  • 4+ years' experience in a mechanical estimating or quantity surveying role.
  • A strong mechanical services background.
  • Experience preparing estimates within the construction or building services sector.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as CostX, Buildsoft or similar.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
  • The ability to identify project risks and opportunities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC contracts would be an advantage.
