About the Role

We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and experienced Practice Nurse to join our GP practice on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated nurse with GP or primary care experience to join our practice and provide high-quality, patient-centred care in a supportive clinical environment.

The successful candidate will be confident in delivering a range of nursing services, including childhood immunisations, vaccine administration, venepuncture, ECGs, and cervical smears.

We offer a competitive salary of €50,000–€55,000 per annum, negotiable depending on experience, alongside a weekday working pattern with no weekend or bank holiday commitments.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing high-quality, compassionate patient care.

  • Performing venepuncture and blood collection.

  • Carrying out ECGs.

  • Administering childhood immunisations in accordance with clinical guidelines.

  • Administering vaccines safely and effectively.

  • Performing cervical smear tests, subject to appropriate training and competence.

  • Assisting with minor surgeries and clinical procedures.

  • Performing ear syringing/ear irrigation, where appropriately trained and indicated.

  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient records.

  • Following infection prevention and control procedures and relevant clinical protocols.

  • Supporting the GP team with the smooth day-to-day running of the practice.

  • Communicating effectively with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.

Essential Requirements

  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

  • At least one year of experience in GP healthcare or a general practice setting.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A professional, organised, and patient-focused approach.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in childhood immunisations and vaccine administration.

  • Experience in venepuncture and ECGs.

  • Experience in cervical smear testing.

  • Experience assisting with minor surgical procedures.

  • Experience in ear irrigation.

  • Familiarity with general practice workflows and primary care services.

Training and support may be available for a suitable candidate, depending on their existing skills and experience.
