Shear and Brake Press Operator

Nesco Resource is looking for an experienced Shear & Press Brake Operator to join our Clients Cooler Department in Corning, NY. In this role, you'll work with sheet metal used to manufacture custom cooler and freezer panels for commercial customers.

You'll be responsible for setting up and operating metal fabrication equipment, accurately forming and cutting sheet metal, reading blueprints and cut lists, and inspecting finished work for quality. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong mechanical skills who enjoys hands-on fabrication work and wants the opportunity to transition into a permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate press brakes, shears, forming equipment, and other fabrication machinery
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop breakdowns, drawings, and cut lists
• Properly Client out metal according to specifications
• Select the correct size and type of sheet metal while minimizing scrap
• Set up tooling and equipment according to technical specifications
• Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure quality and accuracy
• Assist with metal shearing, bending, fabrication, and assembly as needed
• Maintain accurate metal sheet inventory
• Assist with quality inspections throughout the production process
• Help schedule and assign work to meet production and delivery requirements
• Assist with cooler assembly and wood layout when needed
• Support department supervisors with special projects
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company safety procedures and production standards

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating a press brake in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment
• Experience with sheet metal fabrication and forming equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of shop math, measurements, and dimensions
• Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments
• Ability to accurately set up machinery and tooling
• Familiarity with hand tools, machining tools, and assembly processes
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work area
