THE TEAM YOU WILL BE JOINING
-
Join the Supply Chain organization of a large, established energy and utilities company supporting major capital projects, plant operations, and renewable and regulated energy initiatives.

Partner closely with Project Managers, engineering teams, plant stakeholders, Supply Chain leadership, Legal, and external suppliers.

Support strategic sourcing initiatives involving high-value materials, engineered equipment, labor, and services.

Lead moderate-to-complex competitive sourcing events and help develop sourcing strategies across regional and enterprise-wide initiatives.

Work in a highly visible sourcing environment where you will have meaningful ownership over supplier selection, negotiations, contracting, and post-award supplier management.
LOCATION

Charlotte, NC – Hybrid

Onsite approximately 3 days per week following the onboarding period.

Candidates should live within a reasonable daily commute of the Charlotte office.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
-
Lead moderate-to-complex competitive sourcing events from initial strategy development through supplier selection, negotiation, and contract award.
-
Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to develop sourcing strategies for complex, high-value materials, engineered equipment, labor, and services.
-
Develop and execute RFPs, RFQs, and other competitive bid events, including defining sourcing strategy and evaluating supplier responses.
-
Build and evaluate Total Cost of Ownership analyses, cost models, financial comparisons, and supplier proposals to support sourcing decisions.
-
Lead supplier negotiations focused on pricing, commercial requirements, and contractual terms and conditions.
-
Participate directly in contract review and redlining, including areas such as limitation of liability, indemnification, warranties, insurance requirements, termination rights, and performance guarantees.

Develop supplier award recommendations based on cost, risk, technical requirements, commercial terms, and overall business value.

Engage directly with middle and senior-level supplier and manufacturer leadership throughout sourcing and negotiation processes.

Identify opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, process improvements, and greater supply-chain efficiency.

Manage strategic supplier relationships and serve as a key point of contact between suppliers and internal business partners.

Support post-award supplier activities, including contract administration, settlements, claims, disputes, amendments, change orders, pricing changes, and purchase order maintenance.

Support sourcing and contracting activities associated with capital projects, plant operations, outages, and equipment purchases.

Manage and support Master Service Agreements, Alliance Agreements, purchase order contracts, and category strategies.
-
Stay informed on assigned commodities, supply markets, supplier capabilities, diversity opportunities, and market conditions that could impact future procurement.

Participate in change-management efforts to successfully implement sourcing strategies across the organization.
-
Provide guidance, assistance, and cross-training to other sourcing and procurement team members.
THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS
-
Bachelor’s degree with approximately 5–10 years of related Supply Chain, Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Contracting experience.
-
Demonstrated experience personally leading moderate-to-complex sourcing events from start to finish.
-
Strong experience developing sourcing strategies and leading RFP/RFQ processes, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and award recommendations.

Experience developing Total Cost of Ownership analyses and cost models to evaluate sourcing decisions.
-
Strong contract negotiation experience, including direct involvement with contract language, terms and conditions, and redlines.
-
Experience independently managing sourcing strategies, supplier negotiations, and complex procurement initiatives.
-
Strong business and financial acumen with demonstrated cost and financial analysis capabilities.
-
Strong Microsoft Word skills, particularly working with contract documents, tracked changes, and redlines.
-
Excellent planning, organization, analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
HIGHLY PREFERRED
-
Experience supporting energy, utilities, power generation, power plants, major capital projects, or plant outages.
-
Experience sourcing engineered equipment, plant equipment, materials, labor, and professional or technical services.
-
Working knowledge of electric utility or power plant operations and equipment.
-
Experience with strategic sourcing, category management, contract management, Master Service Agreements, and Alliance Agreements.
-
Experience with e-sourcing and ERP/procurement platforms such as PowerAdvocate, Maximo, or similar systems.
-
Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or similar Supply Chain certification.
WHAT WILL SET YOU APART

You have personally owned complex sourcing events rather than primarily processing purchase orders, requisitions, or quotes.

You can clearly explain how you developed a sourcing strategy, managed stakeholders, evaluated suppliers, negotiated agreements, and made an award recommendation.

You are comfortable negotiating contractual risk and legal/commercial terms, not just pricing and payment terms.
-
You have hands-on experience building cost models and Total Cost of Ownership analyses to drive supplier selection.
-
You are comfortable taking ownership of sourcing decisions and supplier discussions while working independently on complex projects.
