Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager on behalf of our client. The successful candidate will take ownership of planning, cost control, risk management and reporting activities to ensure delivery against schedule, budget and quality objectives. This role suits candidates with strong technical project controls skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the confidence to make a real impact on complex programmes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead development and maintenance of project schedules (Primavera P6 or equivalent) and integrated master schedules.

  • Implement and manage cost control processes: budgeting, forecasting, earned value management and variance analysis.

  • Identify, assess and manage project risks and opportunities; maintain and report risk registers.

  • Produce regular management reports and KPIs that provide clear, actionable insight for project leadership.

  • Coordinate with project teams (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commercial) to ensure alignment of scope, schedule and cost.

  • Establish and enforce project controls procedures, governance and best practices.

  • Mentor and coach junior project controls staff to support team development and capability building.

  • Support change control processes, contract claims preparation and commercial mitigation measures where required.

  • Facilitate progress meetings, baseline updates and recovery planning as necessary.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Project Controls Manager or senior Project Controls role.

  • Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project or equivalent scheduling tools.

  • Solid experience with cost control tools and techniques, including earned value management.

  • Practical understanding of risk management methodologies and commercial contract interfaces.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience advising senior leadership.

  • Demonstrable track record delivering controls on medium to large capital projects.

  • Ability to develop clear reports, dashboards and meaningful KPIs.

  • Experience mentoring or leading a project controls team.

Salary: £40,000 - £120,000 GBP
