About the Role

An opportunity is available for an experienced Technical Lead to support a Test Maturity Uplift Program, helping strengthen testing practices, governance and technical quality across the organisation.

This is not a traditional Test Manager position. The role requires someone with strong testing and test management domain knowledge who can operate more broadly as a Technical Lead, moving comfortably between testing strategy, technical architecture, design assurance and stakeholder engagement.

You will work closely with architecture and delivery teams, as well as implementation partners, to ensure solutions are implemented in line with approved designs, engineering standards and non-functional requirements. You will provide technical oversight, challenge proposed approaches where appropriate and help embed sustainable testing and engineering practices.

The organisation currently uses Playwright, so an understanding of modern test automation approaches and tooling will be highly regarded.

The broader Technical Lead remit includes translating architectural intent into implementable technical designs, providing design assurance and ensuring vendor solutions remain aligned with established architecture and engineering standards.


About You

• Strong experience in Technical Lead, Test Architect, Quality Engineering Lead, Test Manager or similar senior technology roles
• Demonstrated experience delivering test maturity uplift, testing transformation or quality engineering improvement
• Strong knowledge of test management, test strategy, governance and modern testing practices
• Understanding of test automation frameworks and tooling, ideally including Playwright
• Ability to operate across testing, technical architecture and solution design
• Experience providing technical/design assurance throughout implementation
• Experience working with implementation partners and vendors to ensure delivery aligns with approved designs and standards
• Strong governance mindset with excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving capability
• Comfortable challenging technical decisions and articulating appropriate trade-offs
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage confidently with both technical and business stakeholders
• Experience within complex enterprise and/or regulated environments will be highly regarded
• Ability to provide technical leadership through influence and collaboration rather than formal authority, consistent with the broader Technical Lead remit.
