The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design, build, and scale resilient microservices and distributed systems.
In this role, you will take ownership of backend engineering, system architecture, and platform performance. You will solve complex problems around high-volume inventory processing, live pricing engines, customer search optimization, and transactional booking workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Architect, build, and maintain scalable backend applications, APIs, and microservices.
-
Design event-driven, distributed systems capable of handling heavy data traffic and external integrations.
-
Deploy, containerise, and operate services within an AWS cloud environment.
-
Optimise application performance, system latency, caching strategies, and data access.
-
Drive engineering best practices, mentor junior engineers, and champion maintainable architecture.
Requirements:
-
Solid commercial background in backend software engineering (C# / .NET or equivalent modern frameworks).
-
Demonstrated experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred).
-
Hands-on expertise with API design (GraphQL), asynchronous messaging, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
-
Familiarity with containerisation tooling (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD/observability practices.
-
Strong pragmatic mindset—ability to weigh trade-offs between delivery speed, system resilience, and code quality.
Workplace & Culture:
-
Hybrid Model: Mostly WFH, requiring just 1 day every two weeks in their Dublin workspace.
-
Flexible Working: 37.5-hour work week with core collaboration hours between 10 AM – 4 PM.
