Functional Analyst | Banking Lending & Loan Origination

Location: Melbourne, VIC
Contract: Initial 6-month contract with strong likelihood of extension

We are currently seeking an experienced Functional Analyst to join a leading financial services organisation based in Melbourne. This role is ideal for a professional with strong experience across banking products, lending, and loan origination platforms, who can bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technology teams to drive successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse and document business requirements, processes, and system capabilities across lending and banking domains.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams to deliver functional solutions aligned with business objectives.
• Facilitate workshops, gather requirements, and translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules.
• Support project delivery by tracking progress, identifying risks, managing dependencies, and ensuring milestones are achieved.
• Participate in solution design discussions and provide functional expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and support testing activities, including SIT, BVT, and UAT, ensuring solutions meet business and customer requirements.

Essential Experience

• Strong experience as a Functional Analyst or Business Analyst within Banking and Financial Services.
• Proven experience working with banking products, lending operations, and loan origination systems.
• Deep understanding of end-to-end banking processes, including Core Banking systems and third-party banking platforms, with exposure to Agribusiness Banking highly regarded.
• Extensive experience across business analysis disciplines including:
  • Requirements gathering and elicitation
  • Stakeholder engagement and management
  • Process mapping and process improvement
  • User story creation and requirements documentation
  • Business rules and acceptance criteria definition
• Demonstrated experience supporting project delivery and managing risks, issues, and dependencies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage effectively across business, technology, and vendor teams.
