Senior Mechanical Designer

Mechanical Designer 12-Month Contract | Competitive Hourly Rate | Industrial & Fixed Plant Projects
An engineering and project delivery organisation is seeking an experienced Mechanical Designer to join a collaborative design team supporting a portfolio of industrial and infrastructure projects.
Working within a team of experienced designers and reporting to the Design Manager, you will be responsible for producing high-quality 2D and 3D design deliverables for fixed plant mechanical systems and associated infrastructure.
The role You will contribute to the design and documentation of a range of mechanical systems and equipment while working closely with engineers, project teams and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical design deliverables.
• Develop and maintain engineering models and design documentation.
• Produce layouts, general arrangements, fabrication drawings and project documentation.
• Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure design quality and project requirements are met.
• Participate in design reviews and model reviews.
• Support project delivery from concept development through to detailed design.
• Maintain compliance with project standards and drafting procedures.

About you

• Demonstrated experience as a Mechanical Designer within industrial, resources, infrastructure or heavy industry environments.
• Strong 2D and 3D design capability.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Ability to produce accurate and high-quality design documentation.
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and work to project deadlines.

Technical experience Experience in the design and documentation of fixed plant infrastructure is highly regarded, including:

• Pumping stations
• Tank systems
• Conveyor systems
• Mechanical plant equipment
• Bulk materials handling infrastructure
• Industrial processing facilities

Software experience Candidates should have experience with:

• MicroStation
• 2D and 3D modelling and drafting platforms
