The Role

The Role
- Lead the month-end close process and deliver accurate, timely management accounts with clear variance analysis that helps leaders understand what’s driving results.
- Build trusted partnerships with business unit managers, acting as their go-to financial expert and providing proactive advice to support decision-making and business improvement projects.
- Facilitate the annual business planning, budgeting and re-forecasting processes, ensuring plans are robust, consistent and aligned with organisational objectives.
- Support key projects and business cases with financial due diligence, modelling and analysis to enable sound commercial decisions.
- Own local financial controls and risk assurance for the business unit, including ERP processes, policy compliance and clearing internal audit actions to protect financial integrity.
- Champion exception-based reporting and optimised reporting structures so leaders get the right information, quickly, to identify issues and opportunities.

- Strong technical skills in management accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting and controls, with the confidence to apply them in a commercial context.

- Experience dealing with auditors and a commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance, governance and process improvement.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills — you can turn complex data into clear, actionable stories that influence non-finance stakeholders.
- A proactive, “own it” mindset aligned with values of accountability, integrity and teamwork, plus a genuine interest in developing others and contributing to meaningful work in New Zealand’s rural sector.
