Raw Materials – Color Team (Senior Colorist - Contract / Assistant Merchandiser, Color)

Overview

A global fashion organisation is expanding its Raw Materials Color team and is looking for color professionals at different levels to support color approval, quality consistency, and supplier performance across the supply chain.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced color specialists as well as junior candidates who are looking to build a long‑term career in a buying office environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the end‑to‑end color submission and approval process, including lab dips and bulk approvals
  • Conduct visual and spectrophotometer color evaluations and maintain accurate color records
  • Manage and maintain core and seasonal color palettes and color standards
  • Update color comments, approvals, and timelines in systems with strong attention to detail
  • Monitor and support supplier color submission performance
  • Work closely with Raw Materials, Sourcing, Production, and regional teams on color‑related issues
  • Support daily color lab operations, calibration, maintenance, and ad‑hoc color projects

Scope and responsibility will be adjusted based on experience and seniority.

Requirements

  • Degree / Diploma or above in Textile Chemistry, Textile Technology, Textile Coloration, Textiles & Clothing, or related disciplines
  • Senior level: 6–8+ years’ experience in color, print, or yarn dye approval
  • Junior level: 0–2 years’ relevant experience; fresh graduates welcome
  • Solid understanding of color approval processes in a buying office or sourcing environment
  • Good technical knowledge of coloring, dyestuff characteristics, and printing techniques (for senior level)
  • Detail‑minded, organized, and comfortable handling data and systems
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PLM systems is an advantage
  • Good command of English; Mandarin and Cantonese are advantages
