Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement end-to-end material sourcing strategies aligned with business goals and customer requirements
  • Lead sourcing initiatives from concept through commercialization, ensuring successful material adoption into production
  • Monitor market trends, supplier landscape, and industry developments to identify opportunities and mitigate risks
  • Strengthen supplier base and diversify sourcing channels to enhance flexibility and supply chain resilience
  • Manage supplier allocation based on product category, capabilities, pricing, capacity, and quality performance
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive collaboration and results
  • Lead commercial negotiations, including pricing, payment terms, and lead times
  • Partner with production and procurement teams to support material development and pre-production readiness
  • Resolve material-related issues in collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
  • Drive continuous improvement in sourcing processes, systems, and standards
  • Act as a subject matter expert on materials (fabric & trims), providing technical guidance and training to internal stakeholders
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sourcing team, fostering collaboration and capability building

Requirements:

  • Degree in Textile Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in apparel material development, sourcing, or supply chain roles
  • Strong experience in supplier management, strategic sourcing, and commercial negotiations
  • Solid technical knowledge of fabrics, trims, and manufacturing processes
  • Proven leadership and team management experience, with strong project management capabilities
  • Strong understanding of material quality standards, testing processes, and supplier capabilities
  • Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and communication skills
  • Ability to work across multiple functions and geographic regions
