The Company
This is a well-established software business in the spend management space, operating across multiple countries with a team of around 50 people in the Sydney CBD office. The business is growing and the People function is at the centre of how it runs.
The environment is collaborative and fast-moving. You will be one of the most visible people in the office and the go-to person for employees, managers, and leadership alike.
Work arrangement: Hybrid
This is a broad, hands-on role that covers the full employee lifecycle, office operations, and HR project work. It suits someone who enjoys variety, takes ownership readily, and builds genuine relationships with the people around them.
You will be the first HR presence employees interact with day-to-day, so interpersonal skills and a proactive mindset matter as much as technical HR knowledge.
What you will be doing:
People Operations and HR
- Running onboarding and offboarding end-to-end: documentation, equipment, new starter plans, and system updates
- Maintaining accurate employee records including leave, absence tracking, and HRIS data
- Coordinating recruitment activity: job postings, CV screening, and interview scheduling
- Supporting the monthly payroll process, including bonuses and commissions
- Acting as the first point of contact for employee queries on policies, benefits, and procedures
- Facilitating employee relations matters in coordination with an external employment lawyer
- Supporting performance review cycles (reviews due end of June)
- Driving People and Culture projects from initiation through to delivery
Office and Facilities
- Managing day-to-day office operations, coworking space coordination, and facilities
- Organising internal events, training sessions, and travel and accommodation bookings
- Managing visitor management, supplier relationships, and incoming mail
- Supporting Health and Safety, Fire Safety, and Risk Assessment activities
Process and Compliance
- Contributing to the build-out of People policies, templates, and internal documentation
- Ensuring HR processes align with GDPR requirements and Australian employment practices
- Identifying opportunities to improve and streamline how People Operations runs
What We Are Looking For
Essential
- Five or more years of HR Generalist or People Operations experience
- Strong attention to detail and structured approach to managing competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Confident working with HR systems and comfortable with Excel or Google Sheets
- Full-time availability, commutable to Sydney CBD
- Outgoing, energetic, and comfortable being the go-to person in the office
Desirable
- Experience in an international or multi-entity organisation
- Familiarity with Australian employment law, leave administration, and contract management
- Exposure to HR systems implementation or process improvement projects
What is On Offer
- Base salary $120,000 – $130,000 + superannuation
- Hybrid working: three days in the Sydney CBD office, two days from home
- Birthday day off
- Quarterly recharge day (bonus paid leave each quarter)
- Genuine scope to grow within the People Operations function
- Supportive leadership and a collaborative, low-ego team environment
