Role Overview
This contract Payroll Officer opportunity will see you working as part of a collaborative team delivering end-to-end fortnightly and monthly payroll services. From processing new starters and terminations through to reconciliations, reporting and resolving payroll enquiries, you’ll play an important role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
It’s a varied role that combines hands-on payroll processing with compliance, customer service and opportunities to improve the way payroll services are delivered.

Key Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end fortnightly and monthly payroll for approximately 1,500 employees
- Process new starters, terminations and final payments
- Complete timesheet and leave reconciliations accurately and within required deadlines
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Respond to payroll enquiries and provide timely updates to employees
- Maintain accurate, confidential and accessible payroll records
- Assist with end-of-month payroll procedures, payments and reporting
- Support end-of-financial-year and FBT payroll processes and reporting
- Complete payroll-related audits and reconciliations across systems
- Apply relevant legislation, awards, Enterprise Agreements, policies and procedures
- Provide advice regarding superannuation, salary sacrifice and employee contributions
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and service delivery
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Previous experience in an end-to-end payroll role
- Working knowledge of Chris21 or another payroll system
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of FBT, workers compensation, superannuation and payroll tax legislation
- Understanding of awards, Enterprise Agreements and payroll governance
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Previous experience working in a customer service environment
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- A collaborative, proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement
