Qualifications:
HS Diploma or equivalent required, BS in Biology or related Science strongly preferred. Relevant manufacturing experience (1-3 Years); Analytical, scientific, and mechanical trouble shooting skills; Good written and verbal communication skills; Good computer skills; Strict attention to detail and safety; Ability to lift 25 pounds on an intermittent basis. Comprehensive understanding of aseptic process in daily activities. Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of Good documentation Practices and Standard Operating Procedures. Basic awareness of quality improvement tools and MPS processes. Understanding and awareness of USDA regulations.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibility for this position is to bottle spin one of our antigens in centrifuges. It does require some aseptic technique but that can be taught on the job.
The antigen manufacturing operation is made up of teams that carry out the production activities for the preparation and sterilization of equipment, preparation and sterilization of media components, fermentation of bacterial antigens, downstream processing of bacterial antigens and serial batching of antigens to blend the final vaccines prior to sterile filling. The Downstream Processing (DSP) Department is responsible for key processing activities in the manufacture of antigens to be used in the blending of final vaccines. Department activities include cleaning, set up and sterilization of large scale filtration equipment and the concentration/filtration of antigen batches required for final vaccine blending. This position will be focusing on processing one specific antigen that is labor intensive. Job requires knowledge of aseptic skills because the procedures have to keep the antigen sterile from outside contamination. Physical requirements is minimal but person will need to be able to lift a 20kg container. When this antigen processing isn’t required there may be other duties to assist with within the DSP team. The primary tasks of this temporary job role are to perform the small scale centrifugation step of a particular antigen and to support the departments cleaning and preparation activities. The position requires someone who can demonstrate a good attention to detail and achieve a consistent error-free execution of daily job responsibilities and be able to complete documentation using Good Documentation Practices.
