The Role
An opportunity is available for a Technical Officer to support laboratory-based scientific research at a facility located in Dutton Park. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a laboratory-based research environment supporting microbiological and animal science experiments.
This is an ongoing contract position until 31 January 2027, with the possibility of a 12‑month extension.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of laboratory and sample preparation tasks, including:
- Preparation of buffers, solutions, and anaerobic microbiological media
- Processing plant material samples for freeze-drying and milling
- Labelling sample collection tubes
- Weighing feed for experimental work, including fermentations and in vitro methane batch screening assays
- Performing general laboratory duties as required
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum qualification of an Associate Diploma in Science, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field
- Q Fever vaccination, or willingness to undertake Q Fever testing and vaccination
- Demonstrated laboratory experience in microbiology and/or molecular biology
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and organisational skills
- A current Australian driver’s licence
