The Organisation

Counselling Services Centre (CSC) is a respected, not-for-profit agency that has supported the Counties Manukau community since 1986. Based in the heart of Manukau city, CSC provides a wide range of services including specialist counselling, 24/7 crisis response, court support, and social work, with a focus on individuals and whānau impacted by sexual harm, family violence and trauma.

The Role

As Team Leader you will play a key leadership role supporting a team of social workers, Court Support Advocates and an after-hours team providing a 24/7 response, delivering crisis services to victims/survivors of sexual harm within our community across a variety of contracts. Working closely with, and supported by the Clinical Manager, you will provide day-to-day team oversight, clinical guidance, workflow management and high-quality client care. You will also carry a small caseload to ensure clients receive timely support.

You will also:

  • Provide systems leadership and supervision to social workers responding to referrals of clients experiencing sexual violence
  • Oversee, monitor and evaluate the day-to-day operational functions
  • Manage the team’s workflow by allocating referrals, monitoring caseloads, and conducting file audits
  • Ensure contract, reporting and compliance requirements are met at the highest standards
  • Represent CSC at sector forums and training events
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across the community with stakeholders and partners including Police.


Skills Required

You are a confident, experienced senior social worker, with team leadership experience who is seeking to contribute to a meaningful, community-based organisation with strong culture. You thrive in a supportive environment, can manage multiple priorities, and bring sound judgement and care to staff and clients alike.

To succeed in this role, you will:

  • Be a fully registered social work professional (SWRBNZ) with clinical and leadership experience
  • Show a readiness to lead people, have experience mentoring or supervising others and be confident managing risk, casework and client allocation
  • Demonstrate strong cultural competency, including commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and the ability to represent CSC professionally while building effective stakeholder relationships
  • Possess a highly organised approach, effective time management and administrative skills, proficiency using databases and the ability to maintain resilience, self-care and healthy professional boundaries
