Location: Irvine, CA – Hybrid (3–4 days onsite per week)
Contract: 6 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Rate: $45.24 per hour
We are seeking a Prototype Analyst to support prototype vehicle builds within a fast-paced automotive engineering environment. This position will play a key role in maintaining accurate product and parts data throughout the build process, working closely with engineering, warehouse and partner teams.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Master Parts List (MPL) management, Product Data Management (PDM) and data analysis, with the ability to manage complex engineering information and identify discrepancies across multiple systems.
Key Responsibilities

Create, maintain and validate Master Parts Lists (MPLs) for prototype builds in collaboration with internal engineering teams and external partners.

Perform regular Bill of Materials (BOM) to MPL alignment checks to ensure accurate and consistent product data.

Partner with Prototype Engineering to incorporate process and engineering data into the MPL.

Conduct regular MPL validations throughout the build lifecycle.

Manage engineering changes by reviewing, approving and executing Change Management (CM) tickets.

Analyse, debug and correlate data transferred between engineering and production systems.

Work closely with warehouse teams to maintain accurate visibility of part availability.

Support part shortage meetings and provide clear updates on critical or constrained components.

Participate in deviation meetings and ensure approved changes are accurately reflected within the MPL.

Track and communicate part status throughout prototype builds.

Support Change Review Boards (CRBs) and help implement last-minute engineering changes when required.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Management or a related discipline.

Strong understanding of Product Data Management (PDM).

Experience creating, maintaining or validating Master Parts Lists (MPLs) or similar engineering parts structures.

Strong data analysis skills with the ability to identify discrepancies across complex datasets.

Experience with engineering or product change management processes.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Experience
-
Previous experience within an automotive, EV or prototype vehicle development environment.

Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.

Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.

Understanding of vehicle architecture and systems.

Knowledge of electrical systems or wiring harnesses would be particularly beneficial.
