Principal Civil Engineer

The Opportunity

A genuinely exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join a rapidly growing national engineering business at an important stage of its journey.

Following a significant acquisition, our client is expanding its engineering capability, national footprint and project portfolio. With an experienced leadership team and strong growth plans ahead, this is an opportunity for a Principal who wants to have genuine influence rather than simply inherit an existing workload.

They are seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join the Brisbane team and play a key role in the continued development and growth of the civil engineering function.

The Role

This is more than a technical Principal position. You will provide leadership to the civil engineering team, contribute technical expertise across projects, oversee project delivery and resources, maintain strong client relationships and play an active role in developing new business.

In this senior position, you will be responsible for:

• Providing technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer to the civil engineering team

• Providing technical input into engineering design, reporting and project delivery

• Reviewing and certifying engineering designs and ensuring technical quality

• Coordinating internal and external project resources

• Managing project programmes, budgets, scope, variations and commercial outcomes

• Maintaining strong relationships with clients, councils, governing bodies, subcontractors and consultants 

• Preparing project reporting, progress claims, invoices and other project management documentation

• Contributing to business development, networking and the continued growth of the Brisbane and wider national business

• Supporting the professional development and capability of engineers and designers

Skills and Experience

We are looking for an established civil engineering professional who combines strong technical capability with genuine leadership, project management and commercial acumen. You will ideally bring:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

• Extensive experience in a senior engineering role

• RPEQ and/or MIEAust accreditation

• Strong experience across civil engineering design and project delivery

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, 12D Solutions, PC Sewer and PC Drain

• Proven experience managing project budgets, programmes, resources and deliverables

• Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in business development and growing client relationships
