Stellar Recruitment is partnering with a leading Australian mining operation to recruit an experienced Geotechnical Engineer for a long-term underground hard rock mining opportunity.
This role will see you play a critical part in maintaining mine stability, reducing geotechnical risk and supporting the safe and efficient delivery of underground mining operations. Working within a highly regarded technical services team, you will provide geotechnical input into mine planning, stope design, ground support systems, backfill strategies, monitoring programs and risk management activities.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Providing geotechnical input into underground development, infrastructure and stope design.
- Conducting geotechnical inspections and monitoring underground ground conditions.
- Designing and reviewing ground support systems.
- Analysing geotechnical and instrumentation data to identify and mitigate risk.
- Supporting paste backfill quality assurance and compliance programs.
- Investigating ground control incidents and implementing corrective actions.
- Maintaining geotechnical databases, models and monitoring systems.
- Collaborating closely with Operations, Technical Services and site leadership teams.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, productivity and cost efficiency.
- Degree qualifications in Mining Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, Geomechanics or a related discipline.
- Previous geotechnical engineering experience within underground mining environments.
- Strong understanding of rock mass classification systems and ground support design principles.
- Experience using industry software such as Deswik, Leapfrog and/or Rocscience packages.
- Sound knowledge of underground mining methods and geotechnical design considerations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with operational stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to safety and risk management.
