Client is seeking a Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions in a Microsoft Azure enterprise environment. This role will focus on cloud architecture, infrastructure automation, security, compliance, and operational excellence while enabling business and research applications. The ideal candidate brings strong Azure engineering expertise, infrastructure-as-code experience, cloud security knowledge, and a DevOps mindset.
Core Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and maintain cloud architectures in Microsoft Azure that meet performance, availability, security, and cost-efficiency requirements.
- Architect cloud networking, compute, storage, identity, and security solutions using best practices and least-privilege principles.
- Evaluate and recommend cloud services, architectural patterns, and infrastructure solutions aligned with long-term platform sustainability.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies.
- Build and support CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Automate operational processes including provisioning, monitoring, patching, scaling, and cost optimization.
- Implement and maintain controls for identity management, secrets management, encryption, auditing, and compliance.
- Monitor and improve cloud security posture while addressing configuration drift and policy violations.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to align cloud platforms with enterprise security standards and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency while driving FinOps best practices.
- Troubleshoot cloud infrastructure issues and contribute to incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
- Help establish cloud engineering standards, reference architectures, and deployment guardrails.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 3 years of hands-on cloud engineering experience in an enterprise production environment.
- Strong Microsoft Azure experience.
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Bicep, ARM Templates, or similar platforms.
- Experience using Git or other version control systems.
- Scripting experience with Python, Bash, or comparable automation languages.
- Strong understanding of cloud networking, virtualization, containerization, and cloud security.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and cloud-native infrastructure operations.
- Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
- Experience with FinOps and cloud cost optimization strategies.
- Experience with monitoring and observability solutions including Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
- Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare, life sciences, or similar environments.
- Knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, or related compliance frameworks.
- Production experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
- Experience designing cloud security architectures including IAM, secrets management, network security, and cloud-native security tools.
