Katherine West Health Board (KWHB) is one of the Northern Territory's leading Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, delivering primary healthcare and community services across remote communities throughout the Katherine West region.

As the organisation continues to grow, an exciting opportunity has been created for a Workforce Development Coordinator to lead learning and capability initiatives while supporting the ongoing development of a highly engaged and geographically diverse workforce.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Manager Human Resources, you'll become the organisation's specialist in workforce capability, learning and development, and professional development.

This newly created position will play an important role in strengthening workforce capability across more than 230 employees located throughout Katherine, Darwin and remote communities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and coordinating organisation-wide learning and development initiatives.
  • Managing the Learning Management System and mandatory training compliance.
  • Supporting Aboriginal workforce development programs and career pathways.
  • Coordinating probation and performance review processes.
  • Providing workforce reporting and capability insights.
  • Supporting managers with professional development planning.
  • Building relationships with leaders across a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Contributing to the continued development of the Human Resources function.

About You
We're looking for an experienced HR, Workforce Development or Learning & Development professional who enjoys helping people succeed and can confidently balance operational delivery with workforce capability initiatives.

To be successful you'll demonstrate:

  • Experience coordinating workforce capability, learning or organisational development initiatives.
  • The ability to interpret legislation, policies and/or Enterprise Agreements.
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems and producing workforce or compliance reporting.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • The confidence to work independently, build credibility with managers and provide practical advice with minimal supervision.
  • A genuine commitment to culturally safe workplaces and supporting Aboriginal communities.

Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, health, community services or government environments will be highly regarded; however, candidates with strong transferable capability are encouraged to apply.

Mandatory Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity you will also require:

  • Current unrestricted Australian working rights (visa sponsorship is not available).
  • Current Driver's Licence.
  • The ability to obtain an NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
  • The ability to obtain a National Criminal History Check.
  • The willingness and ability to travel to remote communities by road and light aircraft when required.
